Pierre-Yves Trémois appartient à cette génération d'artistes français pour qui le dessin était une discipline totale.

Grand prix de Rome 1943, élu à l'Académie des beaux-arts en 1978, il a passé un siècle à tracer le corps humain, les bestiaires et les mythologies – au burin, à l'eau-forte, à la mine de plomb. Cinq ans après sa disparition, le château de Vascœuil rend hommage à cet ami de Dalí et de Lévi-Strauss, illustrateur de Saint-John Perse, Bergson ou Anouilh.

Une œuvre de virtuose, traversée par la même question : qu'est-ce qu'un trait peut révéler du vivant ?
