Shilpa Gupta exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin

HAMBURGER BAHNHOF – NATIONALGALERIE DER GEGENWART
From March 27, 2026 to January 3, 2027

Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof has entrusted its spaces to the Indian artist Shilpa Gupta, who transforms the word TRUTH into architecture and truth into a physical experience.

1

What if truth were merely a device? The word TRUTH is traversed within it, becoming a physical experience of power and control. The giant letters rise like mirages: one moves through them, gets lost in them, and measures oneself against them. In a fiery dialogue with Joseph Beuys, Gupta questions speech, censorship, and collective memory. Her installations, made of words, metal, and breath, transform the museum into an echo chamber for repressed voices. A work of tension, political and poetic, that both unsettles and illuminates: what is a shared truth?
