The Kunsthaus Zürich, which houses the largest collection of Munch's works outside Norway, is bringing together the Norwegian painter and the Austrian artist Maria Lassnig for the first time. Separated by half a century, they are united by the same conviction: to paint is to question oneself. With around one hundred and sixty canvases and works on paper, the exhibition uses color as a seismograph of inner states, emotions, bodily sensations, and the relationship to the world. The subtitle, borrowed from a painting by Lassnig, says it all: Pictorial flow equals vital flow. Two raw works, where life and art are one.
