Titian's Venus exhibition at the Castelvecchio Museum, Verona

CASTELVECCHIO MUSEUM
From October 31, 2026 to January 31, 2027

For its centenary, the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona acquired Titian's Venus with a Dog and an Organ Player from the Prado Museum. A single painting, yet representing a whole century of painting.

1

She is nude, reclining, with a small dog at her feet. Beside her, an organist has turned to look at her instead of reading his score, and his hands continue to play. The painting comes from the Prado Museum: Titian's Venus with a Dog and an Organ Player. Around it are some thirty other works, and most importantly, the instruments actually depicted in these paintings, brought out from the reserves of the Philharmonic Academy of Verona, founded in 1543.
