Manon Lescaut, starring Roberto Alagna, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées

Roberto Alagna sings des Grieux, the man who loses everything for a young girl he meets in front of an inn: Puccini's first major success at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

Puccini wrote only ten operas in his forty-year career, and Manon Lescaut is the one that established his fame: he had exhausted seven librettists before being satisfied. Ailyn Pérez plays Manon, Roberto Alagna des Grieux, Oliver Mears directs, and Lorenzo Passerini conducts the Orchestre National de France. From frivolity to exile, to death in a distant desert.
