Wagner's Ring Cycle at the Opéra Bastille

Four operas, sixteen hours of music: the Opéra Bastille presents Wagner's Ring Cycle in one go, and Calixto Bieito replaces the gods with boards of directors.

1

Two complete cycles in three weeks: Richard Wagner's Tetralogy occupies the Bastille for the entire month of November. Calixto Bieito transposes the curse of gold into a world of rulers and boardrooms, Pablo Heras-Casado conducts. Christopher Maltman traverses the entire cycle, from the political Alberich to the patriarchal Wotan. Tamara Wilson takes on Brünnhilde, Andreas Schager tackles the five-hour Siegfried. From the Rhine to dusk, a world collapses for a handful of gold.
